Single Handed Reefing & Lazy Jacks

This shows the  topping  lift line passing through a V cleat fixed to the boom, the line then continues on to pass through a saddle, the line has a knot in it which when the line is off the V cleat allows the topping lift to go slack, one pull on the line and the boom is lifted and locks automatically, the rope is held captive and is in easy reach, the topping lift is attached to the top of the mast by a small crane and when packing up the line is un clipped from the boom and taken forward to the  mast and secured.
