Why not encourage them in performing both? Because we have not seen them doing both. Back up your words. Sony managed things better than EA by not just using a statement, but going after All Lives Issue fans in remarks, fitting donations by a few workers, claiming they'll have more in the coming week, and allegedly forming a studio at San Diego headed by POC developers. They could've either held the statement until they had something to showtold us what they are going. At the end of Mut 21 coins the day if you refuse to admit when a company creates a small step you love then how do they ever learn how to generate a large step you love?
Are you currently treating a business like the way the parent talks about a young child? I genuinely do not know why it's our obligation to baby companies into having empathy. Why do they need to"learn" to do good for humankind, why can't they simply do it? It is the same as white folks putting the duty on black folks to educate them to not be displaced when there's plenty of resources available on the way to do it. That said, I really do want to say I apologize if any of my remark comes off as hostile or attacking to you. I value that this discussion a lot even if I think at the end of this we'll still disagree. It just sounds like you and I disagree about the value of phrases. I hope that I'm not creating a strawman out of your argument once I say you see very little value in creating a statement with nothing to back it up. Whereas when a large company makes an official statement I think that conveys a reasonable bit of cash even if they don't do anything else.
I really don't think EA has any moral imperative to do anything else at all in this situation, at least not publicly. If they have any employees affected by the protests or riots or even police/military actions they have a moral imperative to do what they can to adapt them, that's about it. They are not the cause of the issue, it might be easy and suitable for them to remain quiet or skirt about this political issue, but they didn't. They had three choices: say nothing, say anything, or say something and make a dramatic gesture. Anything over the bare minimum is worth acknowledging in my own eyes. I really don't see it as"babying" them to acknowledge that a firm statement I concur with. I think we agree about more things than we disagree about. And while we're being antagonistic in such Reddit comments because that is the prevailing tone of this place, I do not believe anything you have mentioned has come across as disrespectful at all and I hope you think the same about the things I have said.
I am very glad we managed to have the conversation we did and that we're seeing businesses put their money where their mouth is. The weekend was rough in my psychological health and outlook on what's gonna get done and that probably reached into my comments, and that may still change as the days come and go. But today seeing protests get even bigger and more calm than before and seeing companies really do shit, it makes me a little more hopeful. Thank you to get a discussion that at the very least gave me a cheap Madden 21 coins fresh perspective. I don't need businesses saying something. In reality I am fed up with firms saying things. Create your merchandise. Make it great. Then shut up and let actual men and women speak. Nobody needs corporations to talk for them.
